How I created "whats in my name"

1. The first thing I did in Photoshop to create this project was make a new file and named it “what’s in a name”. I then went to a website called Dafont.com and chose a font called show pop and downloaded it. I then used that font to type my name. I also made sure to resize the text so that my name would be big. After that I went to google and searched up things that I like and represent me. I would copy a picture and then paste it onto photoshop then I would place it on to what letter I wanted the picture to be on. I then would resize it to my liking and then right click on the image layer and select “create clipping mask”. I did that for all the pictures that I wanted to add. After I added all of my pictures onto all my letters there were some pictures that I wanted to pop-out. So the first thing I did to make them pop-out was right click and duplicated the layer, but I made sure to add the duplicated layer to the top of all my other layers. Then I released the clipping mask, used the quick selection tool to select the area that I wanted to pop-out and applied a layer mask. I did that for all the images that I wanted to pop-out. The last thing I did was add drop shadows by selecting my name layer, clicking on fx, selected drop shadows, and adjusted the setting to my liking, and saved a file to my desktop.

2. A clipping mask is a tool that is used in photoshop and it uses a layer that helps hide some parts of another layer. A clipping mask differs from just using the eraser tool because a clipping mask can be easy to fix if you mess up, while the eraser tool deletes whatever you are erasing and sometimes can be harder to get back the pixels you erased if you messed up. In the future when I create more projects I could use a clipping mask if I want to hide or show only a certain part of a picture.

3. I believe that everything was successful in my project. I think this because I was able to add all my photos, pop-outs, and the drop shadows without any complications. So there's not really anything that was unsuccessful. But if I could change something it would probably be to add pictures of my friends or family into my name. On a scale from 1-4 I would rate my understanding a 3. I say this because I pretty much understood everything that we did in photoshop.
